Cultivating Home. Inspiring Purpose. Thriving Together.

Our Communities

Every community Vanda Health manages has its own personality, its own story, and its own definition of what home means to the people who live there.

Our role is not to remake those communities into a corporate vision. It is to understand what makes each one uniquely itself, and build from there.

Partnership, Not Management

Vanda Health works with care communities and their owners to improve business operations and quality outcomes — not by installing a uniform system, but by building real partnerships with communities that already know who they are and what they stand for.

We work with boutique, independently spirited communities across assisted living, residential care, memory care, and adult foster settings. We are not assembling a portfolio of identical properties run to a corporate template. We are partnering with communities that have something worth protecting — and helping them protect and grow it.

We partner with communities throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, and Arizona. In each one, the work looks the same: show up, listen, invest, and work alongside the people inside to make it better — for residents, families, staff, and the owners who hand us something they have built and trust us not to ruin it.

What Our Management Approach Produces

Three of Vanda Health's managed communities — Harvest Homes in Portland, Elite Care Oatfield Estates in Milwaukie, and Adara Oaks Manor in Gresham — are the first assisted living communities in Oregon to receive the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for Assisted Living Accreditation.
The Joint Commission drives quality improvement in healthcare through a rigorous accreditation process. Earning the Gold Seal required our teams to bring together written policies, approximately 800 regulations, and more than 20 interdisciplinary care pathways into a coherent, demonstrable system of safe, equitable, and compassionate care.

Being first in Oregon to achieve this is not a marketing credential. It is the result of years of sustained work by the teams inside each community — and a concrete measure of what this management approach produces when it is given the time and conditions to work.

What The Accreditation Process Required:

  • Preparation beginning more than a year before the onsite review
  • Writing, revising, and formalizing policies and procedures across all operational domains
  • Aligning job descriptions and creating orientation checklists for new employees
  • Addressing environmental and emergency management regulations beyond Oregon's Administrative Rules
  • Sustained interdisciplinary teamwork across clinical, operational, and leadership functions
  • An onsite review by Joint Commission surveyors covering emergency management, infection control, medication management, environment of care, and leadership

Our Feathered Friends

Vanda Health communities have onsite chickens that residents help care for. It started as an enrichment program. It has become something harder to categorize — a fixture of daily life that residents look forward to, take ownership of, and talk about with their families.

One chicken in particular has earned a title: the guiding principles chicken. The name is partly a joke and partly not. We believe care communities should be places where life is lived, not just managed, where purpose shows up in small things as often as large ones, and where residents are participants, not passengers. A chicken that residents name and argue over and tend to every morning is, it turns out, a reasonable expression of that.

If you visit one of our communities, you will probably meet her. We think that tells you something about the kind of organization we are.

Vanda Health’s communities have onsite chickens that residents help care for. These feathery friends have become our unofficial community mascot. Our guiding principles chicken serves as a reminder of what we believe in.

The Communities We Are Proud to Call Our Own

Each Vanda Health community has its own distinct identity, history, and care culture. What they share is a commitment to the guiding principles above and a management team that is personally invested in their success. Below is a brief introduction to each of our current managed communities.

Adara Oaks Manor in Gresham is the third of Vanda Health’s Joint Commission Gold Seal communities. A warm, residential-scale assisted living community, Adara Oaks is distinguished by its commitment to personalized care and community identity. Canyon Rim Assisted Living is a valued member of the Vanda Health family of managed communities. Like all Vanda Health communities, Canyon Rim is guided by a genuine commitment to resident-centered care, purposeful daily living, and the belief that every person in our care deserves to feel at home.

Vanda Health is always open to discussing new management partnerships with owners and operators of assisted living, residential care, memory care, and adult foster communities in Oregon and across the Pacific Northwest. If your community is considering a management partner, we welcome the conversation.

Interested in a Management Partnership?

If you own or operate an assisted living, residential care, or memory care community and are thinking about a management partnership — or a transition from your current arrangement — we would like to hear about your community.
We partner with communities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, and Arizona and are open to discussing new relationships. The best management partnerships are built on fit — shared values, a shared sense of what good care looks like, and a shared idea of where the community is going. That is what we look for before we say yes to anything. It is also what we hope you are looking for.
Reach out to start a conversation. No obligation on either side.
